Voices from the Scrolls: How do you stay focused?

You the fans asked, and the Huskers have answered. In this week's edition of Voices from the Scrolls, we've picked five of the numerous questions submitted by our readers and asked them to Nebraska's players and coaches themselves. Here are their answers:

What was the general feeling amongst the players after last week's loss to Texas Tech? - HuskersBob

"I think a loss is a loss, no matter how it is. But, they are a really, really good team, and we hung in there with them. But it seems like it's the same thing over and over again. It's mental mistakes for us, technique errors and mental mistakes." - sophomore cornerback Eric Hagg

"We don't really take moral victories. I felt we played pretty well against that spread offense. We stopped them at certain points of the game where we needed to. We definitely could play better, but we had some good spurts. Overall, it wasn't the ideal game for us." - senior defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh

Close, emotional game last weekend. What do you do to keep your focus and move forward going into Ames this weekend? - Brizzad

"Definitely the coaches. They don't seem like they're getting that down, so it's showing off them. They just keep on grinding, telling us keep on going, keep on grinding and we'll eventually get it." - Hagg

"Believe me, there is no sense in letting down on our football team. If we were sitting at 6-0 it might be a concern. If anything, we need to raise our sense of urgency. I didn't get that sense (of letting up) in practice" - head coach Bo Pelini

"I think we only have six left so we need to win all six and it starts this week. We'll see how the guys come out and practice today. Yesterday was pretty good. The seniors on this team, we don't want to let it slip away like we did last year, so we'll take care of it." - senior quarterback

Did the coaches give much consideration to going for the two-point conversion in regulation in the loss to Texas Tech? - HuskerWatson

"I think we had a pretty good plan with the (extra point), which I thought Bo made a great call. If there was an opportunity, if they gave us the fake we would've taken it, which would've been the go for two, and if they didn't, we would've kicked and went into OT. I thought it was a great call because of what they had shown on film. We always carry about three plays in our two-minute plan, and really our five red zone passes can weigh into that too, but I thought the call we made was a really good call because it really gave us our best chance." - offensive coordinator [db]Shawn Watson

With the quick release throwing teams like Missouri or Texas Tech, why isn't there more bump coverage or tighter cushions used to throw off the timings? - Keyser.Soze

"We work on it every day. Last week and this week, we've been working on it more… It's more or less on us more than the coaches, because they tell us enough. I have a lot of technique errors, and the technique is sitting there, playing the player and not moving your feet and bumping and stuff, and that's something I have to work on a lot. Yeah, they tell us to bump the guy." - Hagg

How does one expect to redshirt Latravis Washington when he has played in multiple games? - jsteinhauser

"I don't know at this point. I'm not real sure on that one." - linebackers coach Mike Ekeler
