NU Notes: Callahan not handing Keller the QB job
If you read any of the national stories about different spring practices going on around the country, you would already think that senior Sam Keller is Nebraska's starting quarterback.
However, if you asked NU head coach Bill Callahan if Keller has a clear edge to win the starting quarterback job this spring, his answer is pretty consistent.
Callahan said Keller, along with juniors Joe Ganz and Beau Davis all remain in contention to be the Huskers starting quarterback and an official starter won't be named until the week of NU's season opener against Nevada on Sept. 1.
"No, I couldn't say that and I hope you're not saying that," Callahan said when asked to comment about the perception that the quarterback job is already Keller's.
"There is great competition across the board. All three of those players are really adept at that position, and highly skilled."
Callahan's goal the spring is to bring this team over the hump. Last year the Huskers fell short in losses to four top 10 opponents.
