Father inspires to Chandler to play

ORLANDO, Fla. - The East Meets West All-American game is more than just an all-star appearance for UCLA tight end recruit Nate Chandler. It's a game to honor his father.

Chandler's father had been fighting a battle with cancer for some time. The morning before the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder left San Diego, he visited his father in the hospital. When he arrived in Orlando, he found out from his brother that his father had passed away. Chandler thought long and hard about whether or not to return to California in order to be with his family.

He finally realized what he had to do.
