Offense-Defense AA Bowl Chat: Dez Bryant

[rl]Four-star receiver Dez Bryant stopped by for a chat with Rivals.com users in the recruiting message board Tuesday afternoon live from the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The following is a transcript of the chat:

Dez, what intrigues you about OSU? and when are you going to make a visit to Stillwater?

Bryant: I'm making a visit. Whenever I talk to coach Brewer, he seems like a cool coach. They don't hide their players. He doesn't lie. He doesn't mislead you on whether or not you have a chance to play. I'm going to really take that visit. He's seen guys like Randy Moss and sent a bunch of WRs to the NFL. He'll find a way to get the WRs the ball on the field.

Dez, first off congrats on being selected to an all american game. Would like you to go to a program that has a big time QB coming in like Jarrett Lee? What do you like about LSU?

Bryant: I've built a relationship with Jarrett. When we played last summer at 7-on-7, I told him I like LSU's offense. We talked a lot about LSU. There is a chance that I could commit to LSU. He's told me he would like to throw the ball to me. I didn't know that we were going to be playing together in this game, and he would like to throw me the ball. We'll see what happens. It would be something pretty if I went there. I think we'd work really good together. This game would give LSU fans something a sample of what it was like.

If Jimbo Fisher goes to FSU as the new OC, will FSU be more of a player for your services?

Bryant: I don't know it would matter if he left LSU. Florida State, that wouldn't matter, I don't know about them. I don't see myself there. I wasn't talking to coach Fisher. I talk to coach Peveto. Coach Fisher called coach Outlaw one time and he passed the phone over to them. He just wanted me to know that I had an LSU offer. He was a nice guy, but not the guy recruiting me.

Dez, I see that you have scheduled a visit to UF in the near future. Can you talk about that and what it is that you like about UF? Hopefully we will be a major player for your services, I love your game.

Bryant: I'm interested in Florida, and they're good. They're rising. They're about to get ready to play for the title. I would love to be in an offense like that. They showcase the WRs. They'll play the young guys if they're good enough. A lot of NFL scouts watch Florida WRs - guys like Percy Harvin.

Hey Dez, Congrats on all your success! I hear you are tearing it up down there along with LSU recruit DeAngelo Benton! My question for you is : what are the most important factors in selecting a college to get your education and play football are. Also, if you are gonna break the trend of Lufkin players going to A&M, and start a trend of Lufkin players coming to LSU? God bless you and enjoy this time in your life.

Bryant: It's good to work with Benton. It's like having two threats. You don't get that in regular games. He's different than any other WR I've worked with. We're just about the same. He has a little more speed than me. But I have unbelievable catches that most guys can't, but we both make big plays. We do both have a lot in common.

If your academic situation turns out as you and everyone hope, have you thought about a major? What interests you in that aspect?

Bryant: I haven't really thought about that. Take that back, kinesiology.

Is there a certain kind of offense you would like to play for in college? And do the outcomes of the bowl games have any effect on what school you will select?

Bryant: I would like run a mixture type of a offense that has both run and pass. If you just throw, you can be stopped. If you just run, you're going to be stopped. You need to have an offense that can do both. I'd like to be in an offense that's something like LSU, Arkansas, Oklahoma or Oklahoma State does.

As a receiver, which QB at the Offense-Defense Bowl has impressed you the most?

Bryant: Really two of them have impressed me. It's hard to pick between them all. Kodi Burns and Jarrett Lee stand out so far. Don't get me wrong Corp is good, too, it's just that it looks like they're more experienced on the field.

Did you really skip the December ACT? When are you scheduled to take it again? We're pulling for you to make it.

Bryant: I'm going to take the test again in February. It's nothing to be worried about. I'm just going to do it and pass it and go D-I. I'm going to be set before its time. I'm going to prove a lot of people wrong. I'm telling you guys now that I'm going to make it.

Dez, is there anyone on the Lufkin team that should be getting recruited harder such as Ralph Thomas? How do you feel about being the go to receiver for A&M as a freshman?

Bryant: Jeremy Clayborn and A.J. Pinson need to be ranked higher and recruited heavier. There's a sophomore, Jamarcus McFarland, that's a stud. Basically our entire defensive line needs to be recruited - especially McFarland.

Can you tell me what you are looking for in a coaching staff and which ones you currently feel the most comfortable with.

Bryant: My own coaching staff. Especially coach Stafford, but all of them.

There seems to be alot of folks trying to sway you their direction and not the other; and rightfully so for a top national talent such as yourself. I am curious what everyone is pitching out there. Of the programs you are seriously considering, what is being said that sounds appealing to you?

Bryant: I would like to graduate from college, and go to the NFL. I think I have a big chance of doing that. It all depends on if I pick the right school. If they pick the right school then I'll get all that.

Does the loss of a starting wide receiver affect your opinion of a school or is depth not a concern for you coming in?

Bryant: Depth doesn't matter to me. That doesn't matter to me. I'm worried about other stuff.
