Offense-Defense AA Bowl Chat: Da'John Harris

[rl]Four-star defensive tackle Da'John Harris stopped by for a chat with Rivals.com users in the recruiting message board Monday afternoon live from the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The following is a transcript of the chat:

Congrats and good luck to you in the game. Wondering how the recruitment process has been going for you so far (positives/negatives)? And what other recruits have you been closest with during this whole process?

Harris: The negatives are instant all the time calling is non stop. The coaches and reporters and everything is non stop calling.

The positive part is that I get the opportunity to get recruited by big time schools. This is nothing that you just get. And how you're ranked also is pretty cool. You get treated like a king some times.

I talked to Jordan Campbell a lot. I also talk to my teammate Anthony Boyles.

DaJohn, an area of weakness this year for USC has been the pass rush. If you were to pick the Trojans, would you be more interested in playing early or possibly redshirting and learning? Best of luck in your college career, I saw you play in HS and look forward to seeing you on the next level.

Harris: Playing early. I don't plan on redshirting.

DaJohn will you be announcing during the game? And if so who are your final list of schools?

Harris: I haven't decided if I'm going to announce during the game or after it. My two top schools are USC and Oregon.

Mr. Harris. Good luck w/ your decision, it must be a hard one. Do you feel, personally, that you are physically and mentally ready to compete immediately in your true freshman year or would you prefer to give your body a chance to grow into itself w/ a redshirt year?

Harris: I feel that as of right now, I might not be ready, but in September when the first game hits, I will be ready. I'll be ready for the spring. My knowledge of the game and how long I've been around the game will help me be ready.

Da'John, Congratulations on the selection to the AA Bowl, it is well deserved. I know you have great speed to go with tremendous quickness. With your size, do you see yourself on the end of the dline or ultimately rushing from the interior?

Have a great bowl and continue to impress the other "great" players as you have so far.

Harris: I want to be on the interior, but if I play on the outside I play the stud end. I'm not fast enough for rush end.

We haven't spent a lot of time with the DBs yet. I don't even know everybody's name yet. I'm having a lot of fun. The two Texas corners have been pretty good. Everybody else gets beat, but not those guys.

That's besides the guys from California. I knew that Jordan and Anthony were going to come in here and make an impact. I knew that Jordan and Anthony were going to make big plays.
